Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park-50 Years and Beyond: Preserving its Cultural and Natural Landscapes by Phil Hodge, TN State Archaeologist

We welcome all to attend the upcoming meeting of the Rutherford County Archaeological Society (RCAS) on Sunday, October 20th, 2:00 PM at Oaklands Mansion Event Hall, 900 N. Maney Avenue, Murfreesboro, TN. We are having a special presentation featuring Tennessee State Archaeologist and Director of the Division of Archaeology, Phil Hodge. Mr. Hodge will present a slide presentation about Pinson Mounds. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Pinson Mounds as a Tennessee State Park! It is also listed as a National Historic Landmark. It contains the largest Native American Middle Woodland Period mound complex in the United States. It is indeed one of the state’s and nation’s truly significant ancient and historic sites.
