We have our first meeting of 2025 on Sunday, February 23, at 2:00PM at Oaklands Mansion Please join us for the 10th anniversary of RCAS featuring the return of our very first speaker from 2015, bioarchaeologist Dr. Shannon Chappell Hodge, who will present “The Tennessee Heroes of Forty-Six: Bioarchaeology of the Mexican-American War.” 
This presentation will focus on the remains of U.S. service members – Tennessee Volunteers – who fought, died, and were buried on the battlefield at Monterrey, Mexico during the Mexican-American War. This includes their archaeological recovery and dignified transfer to the U.S., and the discoveries of an international team of historians, bioarchaeologists, and forensic scientists, regarding their lives as Tennessee frontiersmen, and their wounds, medical treatment, and deaths on the battlefield far from home.—Shannon Chappell HodgeOur meetings are free and open to the public.
